Bass-baritone Terry Hodges has had a long and varied career performing over 100 roles in professional opera, musical theater and concert productions all over North America. He spent 7 years with over 2,500 performances in the role of Monsieur Firm in “The Phantom of the Opera” for the Toronto and Canadian National Tour productions.
Since making his operatic debut right here in Omaha with Opera Omaha in 1987, Mr. Hodges has appeared in productions with over 40 companies such as Boston Lyric Opera, Texas Opera Theater, San Fransico Opera Center, Vancouver Opera, Carnegie Hall, Sante Fe Opera, Lake George Opera Festival, Music Theater of Wichita, along with many many others. He has performed in over a dozen Opera Omaha productions, most recently portraying Pooh-Bah in the Mikado and Marchese d’Obigny in La Traviata.
Terry has received kudos for both his large, rich voice and his hilarious comedic acting:
Robert Mitchell, in his CBC review of Pacific Opera Victoria’s “The Gypsy Baron” stated “Terry Hodges is my hero….Terry is a singer/actor who is always a delight with his rubber-faced expressions and complete mastery of any character he plays.”
“A special tip of the critical beret to bass-baritone Terry Hodges for two brilliant comic turns as the befuddled landlord Benoit, and the hapless alcindoro”Chuck Lauazzi, KDHY St. Louis, MOLaBoheme Review, Opera Theatre of St. Louis..
Now residing in Omaha, Terry is currently on the Musical Theater faculty at Creighton University and he is eager to share his wealth of experience in both opera and musical theater with our students at SNJ Studio.
